I was born in the former Yugoslavia. During the Balkan war, my family and I became refugees. After years in a refugee camp, I came to America at 18 with $20 in my pocket and no English.

I found my way through kitchens, where cooking became my craft, my career, and my passion. I learned that a great restaurant is about more than food — it is about people, conversation, wine, music, and memories shared around a table.

The Fig is my dream brought to life. Rooted in Amarillo and inspired by my journey, it is my way of sharing good food, hospitality, and a place where everyone is welcome.
